Story of the work
Walking around the Point Lonsdale lake with family, my mind skips across to the opposite bank and wanders up the banks to the beautiful trees that meet the skyline.
Their outlines are softened by distance but the ripple created by their interconnecting shapes bending around and making space for each other can be felt. The patches of light and shadow on the land below fit together perfectly offering a sense of containment.
To express the peaceful fleeting feelings I experienced in this spot, I worked with overlapping layers of transparent complex colours that morph as the light in the room changes – in brighter lights the lilac panels reflect a glowing soft pink tone, as light deepens they keep their cool blueish tint.
